wedding-hair-half-up-half-downIf you want a fun way to dress up your Halloween costume, or even the rest of your wardrobe, you should try making a duct tape miniskirt. Do these steps and you can create a skirt that fits well and accents your personality.

Take your hip measurements. Make room for two more inches to allow the hip mobility for permitting cuts as need be. Decide on how long you want the skirt also by measuring the length along your hip.

The way to do this would be to take your hip measurement and then measuring with a cut strip of tape in this length. Start by putting it on a clean flat surface and make sure that you have positioned it with the sticky side up. This is the beginning of the skirt.

Cut and position a second strip on top of the first strip. While still working with the strip sticky side up, you will need to take the second strip and overlap with a quarter to half inch onto the first strip. Do not be discouraged while constructing the layers, overlap them slowly and evenly for best results. Apply pressure to make certain that the layers are close to each other.

Continue until you have the length you want. After you acquire the measurement, you may consider adding an additional piece of tape to ensure having enough for the remaining seams. Be careful when using duct tape as it can possibly tear out hair, or even pull the skin off of your arms.

Now fabricate the inside of the skirt. Begin at the top. Cut off another tape strip, but place it sticky side down this time centered over the top seam where the first couple pieces had been taped to each other. This particular model will have a strip of sticky exposed at the top of the skirt. Keep adding strips until you cover the final seam. You will end up with the bottom of the skirt being open and sticky too. Bend the crease. Now you have a sheet of tape almost similar to a piece of fabric.

Remove the excess tape and take off any square edges. Cautiously just cut off the edges such that you do not cut the skirt very short.

To mark how much should be taken out, mark the overlap after wrapping the skirt around your waist and see if this is a good fit for you. After you have figured out the overlap, you can then either attach the two sides with tape or still using the same tape, create loops and attach small buttons.

After you’ve decorated the skirt to your liking, go out and wear it! Just go to your favorite Halloween party and have fun with the skirt.

For an easy and unique sewing project, try a duct tape skirt. You are guaranteed to make a good impression on people!
