This is a topic that’s often debated among stylists and wig aficionados altogether. What hairstyle is best for my face shape? The debate is often seen in the media comparing our favorite celebrities with their style and choice of hair design. And just a little tip, most of them are wearing wigs, so this fits right in with our article. Here are some suggestions to help you decide on what kind of wig will match your face shape. Also, keep in mind different people will want different styles and this list is forever changing based on current trends.
FOR RECTANGLE FACES:
Try to avoid long wavy hair and instead opt for something shorter and straighter. The purpose of this is to cut down on the angular highlights on the face and to give a softer, complementing look. Of course, you can always choose a longer style as well. However, we still recommend going with straight hair. If you change your mind, you can always style in curls as desired.
FOR OVAL FACES:
OMG. If you’re one of the lucky ones who have an oval face, then you can pretty much sport anything you want. Now, one thing to keep in mind with this face shape is that you can change the tone and angles of your face based on your hairstyle. Want to bring out some angular cheekbones? Choose a curly style or a bob. Want to go Uber-soft? Then choose long and straight hair and add bangs. The choices are endless.
FOR SQUARE FACES:
Do you have wide cheekbones and an angular jaw? Then you have a square featured face. You can easily soften those features with a delicate bob style, or go long and curly. If you want a little versatility in your wig, opt for a straight and long wig and then style as needed.
FOR HEART FACES:
For those with a wider forehead and cheekbones and a small chin, your perfect wig would be a nice round bob. However, if you really want to bring out your eyes and lips, choose a longer style and put it in a ponytail. This brings out the lovely heart shape while putting the focus on your eyes and mouth.
FOR ROUND FACES:
Similar to Oval faces but with a little more dimensional symmetry, round faces can pretty much choose any style available. But don’t let this confuse you. You should choose a style of wig that accentuates the features you want to highlight. Do you have high cheekbones? Then choose a nice short and straight wig that’ll highlight your features while offering a softer tone. Do you have an angular jaw? Then choose a long wavy style to blend the angles into your shoulders that will help highlight your neckline.
FOR DIAMOND FACES:
Diamond faces have wide prominent cheekbones with a narrow jawline and narrow forehead. Lovely long curly hairstyles can soften and the angles and bring a more rounded look, putting the focus on your eyes and mouth. You can always sport long straight hair as well if you want to highlight those beautiful cheekbones while softening the angular highlights in almost all lighting conditions.
Lastly, you should also choose a style that makes you feel your best. Regardless of facial shape, your confidence is what matters, and quite honestly; with the right wig, nothing else matters in the end. Also, we would love to hear from you if you have any great tips or new looks you want to share.
